I graduated from Broughton High School in Raleigh, NC,
in 1953. I studied art at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill and in Richmond Virginia at Richmond Professional Institute (now Virginia Commonwealth University), earning a BFA degree in 1960. After forty years as a graphic designer/illustrator in Northern Virginia, the last thirty years as an independent artist, my wife and I relocated to Raleigh, in January, 2004.

I've painted my own pictures all my life. About 1996, I began entering juried competitions. Since then my paintings have been juried into over one hundred exhibitions. During this time I have shown my work in seven one man exhibitions.
